  • Description:

    This product combines synthetic estrogens and progestins, similar to the natural sex hormones (estrogen and progesterone) produced in a woman's body, which is used after unprotected sex. Levonorgestrel is used to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary) and by causing the cervical mucus to thicken.


  • Contraindications and cautions:

    blood clots; blood sugar problems, like diabetes; cancer of the breast, cervix, ovary, uterus, vagina, or unusual vaginal bleeding that has not been evaluated by a health care professional; depression; fibroids; gallbladder disease; heart or circulation problems; high blood pressure; jaundice; liver disease; menstrual problems; migraine headaches; stroke; systemic lupus; tobacco smoker; an unusual or allergic reaction to estrogen/progestin, other hormones, medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives; pregnant or trying to get pregnant; breast-feeding.


  • Indication:

    This product is used to prevent pregnancy and only intended for use in women who have previously given birth, have only one sexual partner (are monogamous).


  • Interaction:

    Rifampicin, ampicillin, tetracycline, phenytoin, carbamazepine decrease the efficiency.


  • Method of application:

    Take the first dose as soon as you can after having unprotected sex, preferably in the first 24 hours, but no later than 72 hours (3 days) after the event. In the case of several sexual intercourses repeatedly use the dosage in 8 hours after the first one.


  • Overdose:

    Side effects are most evident.


  • Side effects:

    Nausea, functional metrorrhagia.


  • Special precautions:

    It is not recommended to take more than 4 tablets monthly. It is possible metrorrhagia in 2-3 days after the discontinuation of taking Levonorgestrel. It is recommended to take ascorbic acid and rutozid (Rutin S, Venoturon). In the case of excessive bleeding, consult a gynecologist.
